In October, there are always special promotional beauty products that help fund breast cancer research as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. However, brands like the Estée Lauder Companies’ Bobbi Brown, Prescriptives, Origins and La Mer as well as SEPHORA, I.C.O.N. and Avon donate a portion of the proceeds from certain skin care beauty products and cosmetics all year long. Learn which makeup purchases help fund breast cancer research.
Makeup Products, Cosmetic Brushes and Tools
Want to try a new lip gloss, lip color or cheek and eye set? Need to replace cosmetic brushes and eyelash curlers? Choose from items by SEPHORA, Sonia Kashuk for Target, Bobbi Brown and Prescriptives that benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF). The BCRF’s mission is twofold: Provide funding for research and increase public awareness about good breast health. According to the BCRF’s website, a minimum of 85 cents of every dollar goes to research and awareness programs.
For each purchase of SEPHORA’s Forever Pink Super Shimmer, refillable brush and eyelash curler a $1 or $2 donation is made to the BCRF. Retail prices for the lip gloss and cosmetic tools runs from $10 to $22.
Sonia Kashuk for Target donates 15 percent of proceeds from purchases of the Curl for a Cause Eyelash Curler, Sweep of Pink Brush, Brush up on Pink Purse Brush Set, Brushed to Perfection Travel Brush Set and Bag Lady Cosmetic Bag. The retail prices of these items range from $9.99 for the eyelash curler to $19.99 for the travel brush set that includes seven cosmetic brushes.
Bobbi Brown and Prescriptives both offer special collections that help fund breast cancer research by donating a portion of their proceeds to the BCRF. Bobbi Brown sells a Pink Ribbon Collection of limited-edition lip color and glitter lip balm. The company will donate $35,000 as part of its North American sales. The lip color collection costs $40 and is available online. Prescriptives has created a PX Pink Ribbon Palette for Cheeks and Eyes in a breast cancer awareness compact that includes four eye shadows and two cheek colors for $48.50. The company will donate $20,000 to BCRF.
Hair Care Treatment for the Cure
Cosmetics aren’t the only products that help fund breast cancer research. I.C.O.N. CURE spray is a hair care treatment that also benefits cancer research organizations. The CURE spray works with damaged hair to condition, restore moisture and add manageability. The company launched the Cure for a Cause in 2007 and has been helping fund breast cancer research through sales of its CURE spray ever since.
Skin Care Beauty Products
When purchasing skin care beauty products, it’s easy to shy away from the higher priced items. Purchasing a quality skin care beauty product that also helps fund research can be a great compromise. Estée Lauder’s new Advanced Night Repair is one product that is included in the company’s collection that benefits the BCRF. Estée Lauder’s other items in the collection include the Pink Ribbon Collection: Evelyn Lauder Lip Set, Elizabeth Hurley Lip Set, Jeweled Pink Ribbon Pin, Mirror Compact as well as Beautiful Eau de Parfum Spray and Advanced Night Repair.
La Mer’s signature product, Créme de la Mer, will have special pink packaging in October. That month’s sales will help fund a $30,000 donation as part of the company’s North American sales of Créme de la Mer. Origins’ Peace of Mind® On-the-spot relief also has a special pink box and will help fund a $35,000 in connection with the North American sales of the skin care product.
